DIRECTOR

David Pearson is a writer, director & producer Arturi Films & Storyspring (BAFTA & Emmy Nominated, Winner Grierson, BIFA, RTS etc.), and former BBC Executive.

Before directing ‘Last Kings of Soho‘, David Pearson directed & wrote Black Car Home’, 2013, which was shown in six cinemas and several festivals, including London Short Film Festival, and he produced the Oscar Shortlisted, BAFTA & Emmy Nominated and BIFA and Prix Italia winning feature film Mugabe and the White African’. He currently is attached to direct a cinema thriller ‘The Lock Inn, and two full length screenplays optioned. He has taught filmmaking at various universities including UWE & University Of Reading and in the industry, founded and directed the Screenwriters’ Festival, and worked for the NFTS Screenwriting programme.

With previous success as a TV director, producer, and executive producer, David Pearson has worked in several genres including documentary, factual, entertainment and drama. The more than 30 full length films he has directed dealt with provocative stories about sexuality, homelessness, migration, ageism and friendship, around themes of power, injustice, and inequality, often told with humour and attracting large audiences.
